Offering a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface and a 16 MB buffer, performance is certainly not compromised by the physical size (70% smaller than its bigger brother). With design advantages ranging from lower power consumption (up to 50% reduction over conventional 3.5"), a smaller form factor that reduces system cooling requirements, low acoustics, redundant data paths and an interface design featuring scalability, hot pluggability, simplified cabling (less conductors, less space, more air flow) and a common infrastructure which supports SATA. Leveraged from high maturity technology from its proven 3.5-inch big brother, the MBC continues to lead the way in HDD design.
